Homeowner Dot Rice, Center, welcomed students from the UNCA's environmental studies program to her family's property that was polluted on April 13, 2015 by the former CTS manufacturing facility on Mills Gap Road in South Asheville. The EPA says as of March 2020 the cleanup is complete and the chemical pollutants should be broken down to carbon dioxide and water in 3-5 years.
