The government has asked the House of Representatives to start talks on a revised general tax law to move the government closer to adopting new tax policies, including a change in VAT.
Coordinating Economy Secretary Airlangga Hartarto said Wednesday the president had sent the motion letter to the House of Representatives to begin discussions on a draft of the fifth revision of the 1983 General Tax Act.
Airlangga said the revision would cover changes to sales tax, personal income tax, luxury sales tax and excise tax, corporate tax cuts, and the introduction of a carbon tax and a second tax amnesty.
