Ellis Law Group, PL is pleased to announce the addition of Mario G. Bai as a new attorney to the firm’s estate planning and corporate departments.

Mario had a successful career as an entrepreneur before he became a lawyer. Mario owned a technology consulting firm that he later turned into a managed voice services provider over Internet Protocol (IP) in 1999, one of the first in the country. His next business was the import and distribution of fine wine from Europe on the New York Metro market. After parting ways with his tech and wine / spirits businesses, Mario received a full scholarship to Brooklyn Law School, where he chose to expand his education by learning legal practice. While studying law, Mario focused on corporate and tax law. Mario was also part of the opening class of the Pro Bono Scholars, a New York State Court of Appeal program in which he devoted over 500 hours of volunteer work in the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender to represent penniless defendants in Superior Court crimes first degree. After moving from criminal defense, Mario appeared regularly before the General Equity and Probate Part in Chancery Court in Bergen County and across the state of New Jersey to litigate disputed estates.

Mario now devotes his time to representing wealthy individuals in their wealth protection and estate planning needs. In situations like this, it is invaluable to have someone who knows the intricacies of complex asset valuations, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of tax law, and that is exactly what Mario brings with him. Mario works closely with accountants, financial advisors and business valuation professionals to assist his clients with their asset valuation issues.

Mario often presents changes in tax law that affect legacy planning to accountants, financial advisors, and insurance agents. Mario was also an associate professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey, lecturing on family law and the structure of the court system. Prior to moving to Florida and in a spirit of making justice more accessible to all, Mario volunteered as a local public defender in several communities in Bergen County.

Mario is admitted to the bar in Florida, New York, and New Jersey.
