Florida Adopts Residential Property Tax Breaks and Gross sales Tax Modifications

Law360 (May 21, 2021, 6:47 p.m. EDT) – Florida will expand affordable housing tax exemptions, allow businesses to sometimes pay sales tax on behalf of customers, and enact proposed amendments to the state constitution that will go to voters next year signed under a bill Friday.

Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 7061 sponsored by Senator Ana Maria Rodriguez, R-Miami. DeSantis said in a statement that the move will save people and businesses around $ 168 million, highlighting various tax breaks the bill will also create.
