Melanie, please tell us a little bit about yourself and how long have you been in the Newcomerstown H&R Block office?

“I’ve been on the Newcomerstown H&R Block team for five years and this is my 30th year in tax. The office has been in the same location on Main Street for 15 years. I really enjoy being busy in the village and working with our local customers. In my free time (tax-free season) I like to travel with my daughter. She currently lives in Columbus; but we are very lucky to see each other often. “

What are the challenges for the tax refund season in 2021?

“First and foremost: The Internal Revenue Service has postponed the start of tax returns until February 12, 2021. A customer can complete the income tax return process. However, on February 12th, the IRS will begin accepting and processing annual tax returns for 2020. This date allows the IRS to complete the necessary programming after some recent tax law changes that include the second round of COVID-19 stimulus reviews and a few others Providing additional benefits to those who qualify for them. Hopefully by implementing these measures there will be no additional delays in getting tax refunds back. These additional precautionary measures also ensure that eligible individuals receive remaining stimulus funds as part of the recovery discount credit when filing their 2020 tax returns. April 15th remains the deadline for filing your tax return for 2020.

“Due to the pandemic, this is sure to be an important and unique filing season. I expect the challenges remain, but H&R Block will work to minimize them to the best of its ability.”

With that in mind, we are here and ready to meet your income tax needs. H&R Block has many tax offerings to our clients. We provide tax services to both individuals and businesses. We know there can be unusual or complicated tax matters like Renewals etc that occur at other times of the year and we are here for those situations as well. In addition, companies require tax services year round and we go to great lengths to keep these companies well prepared for tax filing and other services that we provide Offer business customers all year round.

H&R Block offers our customers many useful advantages. For those who meet the criteria, you can file a portion of your tax return (up to $ 3,500 – not in cash) the day you file with H&R Block. We’re happy to review these options, as well as other tax options, to make your life less stressful and to help you top up your bank account a little earlier. A word of caution: you must submit by February 28th to take advantage of this offer. So it is very important that you file your taxes with us as soon as possible. There is no interest – no loan fees and no impact on your creditworthiness. There are several ways to repay this. Our office staff would be happy to discuss these with you. ”

What would you like to highlight for us?

Filing your taxes isn’t always a fun experience, but we encourage you to tackle your returns as early as possible this year. Please call our office at 740-498-7138 to make an appointment and discuss your 2020 tax return options

Season. I enjoy going through this process with my clients and am the person they can count on to provide them with a positive tax refund experience. It’s a pleasure working and getting to know so many people, and I feel like I’ve helped them simplify their tax returns a little. “

Her office is on Main Street in the village. What are your hopes for the future of Main Street?

“I see so much potential here. I enjoy being a part of Main Street and have met so many lovely people and other business owners. I see some improvements and I hope they will continue. It is so important to support other companies and support you. We’re all in the same boat.”
