In particular, the New York Legislature incorporated Bills SB 4959 and SB 1124.

SB 4959[1] would impose a monthly excise tax on the collection of consumer data from New York residents by commercial data collectors. The term “commercial data collector” is defined as any for-profit entity that, in one month, collects, manages, sells, or disseminates consumer data from New York residents of more than 1 million residents …
