Full-service powerhouse at the end of November Pinheiro Neto Advogados announced five new partners for 2021 – Carlos Eduardo G. Azevedo (Insurance & Reinsurance, Corporate, M & A), Raphael Moraes Paciello (Oil and Gas, Corporate, M&A), Paula Amaral Mello (Environmental law, climate change and sustainability), Mariana Monte Alegre de Paiva (social security) and T.Hiago Braga Junqueira (Corporate restructuring and bankruptcy) – a move that further strengthens the practice of the company as a whole.
Mr. Azevedo has more than 20 years of experience in the legal market and has been with Pinheiro Neto since 2001 as a member of the firm’s corporate department. He is also active in insurance and reinsurance matters, with a focus on M&A transactions, contracts and structuring insurance distribution platforms, and coordinates the company’s acceleration program for insurers. Academically, Mr. Azevedo holds an LL.M. from the University of Chicago.
With over 17 years of legal experience, Mr. Paciello is a member of the Oil, Gas and Biofuels Regulatory Department. He advises oil and gas operators and concessionaires, their service providers and biofuel manufacturers on a wide range of regulatory and M&A issues. Academically he has an LL.M. in energy and raw materials contracts from Queen Mary University of London and a degree in corporate law and capital markets from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV).
Ms. Mello, in turn, has over 15 years of experience in environmental law. She advises national and international companies in many market segments on a variety of environmental issues in both administrative and legal proceedings. Academically she has an LL.M. in diffuse and collective rights from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP).
Ms. Paiva is a tax lawyer with almost 13 years of experience in tax and social security matters. She has an LL.M. She is studying tax law at the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and has been part of the Pinheiro Neto team since 2009. She is particularly dedicated to wage tax and questions of private pension provision, in particular advising pension institutions and sponsors of pension plans.
Mr. Junqueira has been involved in corporate restructuring and bankruptcy for 12 years. He has extensive experience in representing debtors, investment partners, shareholders, creditors and investors in judicial and extrajudicial restructurings as well as in insolvency proceedings. Prior to that, he worked for the well-known Brazilian law firm Felsberg Advogados and the leading international law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Academically he has an LL.M. from the University of Chicago Law School.
