House adjourned for the day
The Lok Sabha trial was adjourned Thursday due to continued interference from opposition officials over the Pegasus espionage issue and three agricultural laws.
After repeated interruptions at the 5pm session of the House of Representatives, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman rose to introduce the 2021 Tax Amendment Act.
Lok Sabha Congress Chairman Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary said that bills would be passed in the House of Representatives without debate with an average time of seven minutes per bill.
He claimed that it was not right to come up with a supplementary list of stores at the last minute.
RSP member NK Premchandran supported Chowdhary.
Later, the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021, was introduced through a vote of slogan shouts from opposition members. The bill aims to amend the Income Tax Act 1961 and the Finance Act 2012.
Rama Devi, who presided, then adjourned the meeting for the day.
A bill for the establishment of a central university in the Union territory of Ladakh had also been submitted beforehand.
