Seattle faces attraction within the battle for a brand new payroll tax

Law360 (July 6, 2021, 5:14 p.m. EDT) – A Washington state court erroneously ruled that a Seattle tax on companies with high-paid employees is constitutional, the Seattle Chamber of Commerce said, requesting a review of the decision.

The board on Friday appealed the decision of King County Judge Mary Roberts, who in June ruled that the new levy, the JumpStart Seattle tax, is a constitutional excise tax on the privilege of doing business. The tax, enacted last year, is expected to bring in Seattle $ 214.3 million annually.
