MOSCOW, July 30th. / TASS /. The idea of introducing a temporary export ban on gasoline, which is being discussed in the government, will not lead to a decrease in budget revenues in the form of an export tax on the export of petroleum products, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazanov told reporters on Friday.
“When gasoline exports fall, excise tax revenues rise. Because if gasoline is not exported, it goes to the domestic market, where the excise duty is paid. Therefore, we do not expect any loss of income in this regard, “said Sazanov.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Energy, Nikolai Shulginov, said he was considering the possibility of limiting the export of gasoline from the country if the rise in wholesale fuel prices continues. The decision can be made after July 30th. According to the Federal Customs Service, Russian oil companies reduced gasoline exports by 24.9% in May 2021 compared to May last year – to $ 235 million. The quantities fell by 30.6% – to 407,600 tons. At the same time, from January to May 2021, exports fell 5.8% to $ 1.231 billion and volumes fell 18.8% to 2.489 million tons.
