The Virginia General Assembly passed law on April 7th renaming the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy to the Department of Energy for Corporate Income, Individual Income, Trust Income, Sales and Use, Property and Excise Tax. The law was passed without the consent of the executive. The law includes measures: 1) renaming the Ministry of Mines, Minerals and Energy to the Ministry of Energy; 2) renaming different departments working under the department; 3) Requesting the Governor to appoint the Chief Advisor for Clean Energy Policy; 4) Removing the power of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Department to serve as a state …
